May 2010: LSDsports.com Cycling Clinic with Nunawading Triathlon Club

Dear LSD Sports,

Many thanks to Tony and his expert crew from LSD Sports for the huge effort they put into organising an awesome club ride with Nunawading Triathlon Club.

We had a huge turnout in near perfect conditions...32 club members, along with 8 LSD Sports coaching staff made sure the ride was professionally run and most of all safe.

After initial introductions Luke, Gab and Steelo showed us some little secrets about how to ride up the hills efficiently and fast, including riding up the hills at a low cadence and in the big chain ring.

It was quite amazing to see us roll out from Nunawading Aquatic Centre at 7.30am. Our peleton must have been at close to 100m long...it must have looked impressive. We were lead out by Luke and Gab who did a great job of keeping the ride together and at a good pace. With such a large group safety was at the front of our minds and there wasn't an issue. A couple of times the group broke up because of lights but we were quickly all back together thanks to a train at Bayswater. From then on it was single file all the way to the base of the 1/20 and a quick regroup.

Everyone went up 1/20 at there own pace with the LSD crew spread amonst us giving great advice to us all on the way up.

At the top of the 1/20 the group was split into 3 seperate groups of 10 and different abilities for a 50/60 minute ride. Our group took us to some roads and climbs that I never knew existed and finished with The Wall before we all regrouped back at the top of the 1/20.

A nice ride to the base and we were back on our way to the pool. It was great to hear so much positive feedback on the return trip. Everyone home safely.

Thanks again LSD Sports, you guys were incredibly professional and patient. I hope you got as much out of it as we all did. Also, thankyou so very much for the goodies bag.

Thankyou...thankyou...thankyou... for the best club ride ever!

Cheers
Scuba Steve

Gavin Hicks said - Thanks for organising the morning Scubes. The cycling session itself was terrific and I learnt a lot about how to attack hills in the off season vs. how to do it during racing season. It has given me some clear cycling objectives over winter.

I can't believe that the LSD store is in St. Kilda and only a km away from my unit!
Cheers,
Oscar

Graham Dent said - Second that Oscar - its the old saying "you don't know what you don't know" - and that was me and hill riding / training. I learned some important lessons today (apart from that I am not fit - I knew that already). I am looking forward to seeing what applying those lessons will do - particularly how hill training can translate to faster flat riding.

A great session from LSD and thanks for your efforts in organising it Scubes.
Cheers,
Scrap Metal

Daniel Nasmith said - Fantastic ride today.  Looking forward to more focussed sessions like these.  It's hard to find the discipline to "grind" the hills without these sort of sessions.  Massive numbers too! (not sure what the final head count was)....

Penny Griffin said - Thanks Steve for organising an awesome ride today! Learnt alot and was pushed to my limits (and beyond). The LSD guys were great, patient and supportive, and happy to answer all our questions. It was good to hear a couple of comments from them about how NTC seemed like a great club to be a part of, with so much enthusiasm and support.
And now for recovery - they suggested an ice bath and stretching... I went for the cold bath and extra stretching - fingers crossed for being able to walk over the next few days!

Lee Bonardi said - Thanks for organising the session Steve. The LSD guy's knew what they were talking about, and I'm sure everyone got something out of it, I did!!

Terry Kircher said - Hi Scubes. I found the ride well organised and catered for all ages and riding abilitieswhich helped every rider to benefit. By being put into groups of ability gave each rider a more personal tough and one on one training tips. This proved to be the essence of improvement seen in each person that participated in the ride.
Cheers
The Pastor.

March 2010: Team LSDCycling dominate at the Victorian 3 Peaks Challenge

The inaugural Team Degani 3 Peaks Challenge was held on a cold and blustery day in March.  The challenging 230km course took riders through Australia's most spectacular alpine region, and included almost 100km's of climbing!

Members of Team LSDcycling took part in the day, and all agreed that the challenging course, coupled with the stormy conditions, made it one of the toughest rides they had ever done!

The team prevailed though, with LSDcycling member Luke "Mountain Goat" James being the first rider across the line - congratulations Luke!!
